At Lodha, we’ve been constructing luxury homes & sleek workspaces for India and her people for over four decades now. In this span, we’ve observed that luxury and sustainability can co-exist in perfect harmony and that has significantly influenced our processes & perspectives. We anchor our operations on 3 fundamental pillars. One, we recognise the profound impact of design and service on wellbeing. Thoughtful and purposeful design in living spaces can significantly enhance both the environment and holistic user experience. Two, we are committed to surpassing the expectations of our customers by providing innovative, world-class solutions. We carefully curate events and experiences to delight them and their families, ensuring they relish an enriched and empowered lifestyle. And three, we understand the responsibility that comes with creating homes and workspaces for an ever-changing tomorrow, where luxury and sustainability can co-exist in perfect harmony.
At Lodha, we believe that sustainable growth is imperative. Our philosophy of ‘Do Good, Do Well’, is also a reflection of our drive to be more impactful with the work we do. We are committed to using our capabilities and green infrastructure practices to create a positive impact on the environment and society even as we grow our business.
At the centre of our sustainability strategy lies decarbonisation and resilience. Through innovative design and sustainable practices, we are minimising our carbon footprint and creating residences that are not just luxurious, but also sustainable & adaptable. We want the structures we build to stand resilient in the face of future challenges posed by climate change and increasing water needs.
We also set up the Lodha Net Zero Urban Accelerator, in partnership with US-based think tank RMI, in July 2022 upon recognising the real estate sector’s pivotal role in reducing global carbon emissions. Our intent is to redefine urban development and lead India’s transition towards net-zero by spearheading the journey towards building sustainable cities in India with green residential projects. Through this pioneering platform, we’re developing actionable initiatives in five key areas: Embodied Carbon, Passive Design Solutions, Efficient Equipment, Clean Energy, and Clean Mobility.
In December 2023, we also became the first real estate company in India to have its overall net-zero targets validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and in March 2024, we achieved carbon neutrality in our operations, marking a significant milestone in our journey towards achieving net-zero by FY2050.
Our corporate sustainability team along with projectwise design leads is tasked with integrating and implementing sustainability initiatives and mitigation measures identified with respect to nature-related risks, ensuring a coordinated approach across the organisation. In our projects, we make use of techniques like sun path and wind analysis, topsoil preservation, blue-green spaces, and solar innovation to build within the ethos of green infrastructure. This results in splendidly-designed modern luxury homes with abundant sunlight and ventilation that are incredibly energy-efficient and are surrounded by lush, green spaces.
We ensure easy access to necessities and amenities for our residents which not only enhances residents’ quality of life but also minimises the need for extensive travel. By prioritising pedestrian-friendly design, our developments contribute to environmental sustainability while promoting wellbeing. We include greenscapes and play areas, with strategic placement of canopies over walking areas, parking spaces and seating spaces. Biodiversity assessments are also conducted with the objective of documenting the existing biodiversity, and to facilitate effective biodiversity conservation. We undertake climate risk assessments to identify impact of climate risks on our projects and create mitigation plans to manage these risks.
In recent years, Lodha has risen to be India’s number one real-estate developer. As leaders of this industry, we want to set an example for sustainable construction processes and mindful urban living. All of this, while of course, delivering luxurious residences that our customers will cherish for decades to come.
