In the first episode of this series, we explore the spectacular space designed by Shimona Bhansali, founder of Design Hex, one of India's leading interior design firms. With her unique sensibilities, immense experience and passion for personalized spaces, Shimona Bhansali has crafted a masterpiece for one of the flats in Worli at Lodha Ciel.
The House of Contours: The Crowning Glory of Lodha Ciel
Lodha Ciel, one of the top residential projects in Mumbai has been designed keeping the tastes and sensibilities of the residents in mind. Instead of an apartment in a high-rise in the middle of a bustling metropolis like Mumbai, the space has been designed to resemble a private villa in the Italian countryside or on a tropical island. Located on the 51st floor, Lodha Ciel’s House of Contours is a testament to exemplary design and its power to transform a space.
Steeped in earthy and organic colours, fabrics, textures and materials, House of Contours is a space that keeps one grounded even at the highest of heights. The space incorporates a lot of natural elements and is resplendent in greenery to soften any harsh lines and angles. As a designer, Shimona has designed the House of Contours by focusing on the layout of the space and arranging things as per the lifestyle of the residents. To create an open and airy atmosphere, the team revamped the kitchen and dining room to merge it with the living room, expanding the space to a whopping 65 feet. The open floor plan reduces the rigidity associated with apartments and gives the space the feel of a sprawling villa. The living room is flush with an end-to-end balcony that opens to a spectacular view of the sky and the skyline. While the balcony brings in plenty of light and fresh air, the design also prioritises practicality by choosing materials and fabrics that are sustainable and easy to maintain. Making the most of the enviable height it’s located at, the team has ensured that House of Contours is peppered with windows that allow natural light to pour in from wherever possible.
Inspired by the tropical tranquillity of Tulum, House of Contours features rounded corners, soft lines and earthy hues. While the overall colour schema of the space is natural and organic, the team effortlessly incorporated pops of colours to give each room a unique identity. To breathe personality into the space, the team made effective use of art, from wall murals and sculptures to pieces custom-made for the House of Contours by esteemed artists. The bedrooms make the most of the building’s curved structure to make room for a rounded headboard, with the bed facing the stunning vistas visible from the windows. Highlighting natural topography and the ebb and flow of the elements, the House of Contours is a space that transports one to another space where time moves slowly, and peace is to be found in every corner.
Designed to appeal to every sense, feel and smell- Lodha Ciel’s House of Contours is a truly spectacular space.
