Women have been the most significant influencers when making the crucial decision of buying a home, and they are leveraging their home-making skills to become homeowners. The increasing desirability of women to gain financial independence, coupled with several benefits available to women homebuyers in India, has made owning a home a key priority for present-day women.
Being caring, earning, and the core of the family, a woman embracing several responsibilities and respecting the cohort defines what we value as a society. By acing at the several relationships and responsibilities on their shoulder over generations, financial independence has long been a much-awaited achievement for women. In the new normal, post the pandemic, owning one’s own home is no longer just a dream but also a necessity.
In current times, women are successful across fields, and buying a home is another step they are taking. Owning a home provides a sense of rootedness and belonging. As homemakers, women realise home is the safest place to nurture their dreams, build lifelong relationships, and curate everlasting memories. The sentiment was fortified post the pandemic when the safety and well-being of loved ones became more crucial. Taking into account the emotional, financial, and other related aspects, women have realised that buying a home is the best they can opt for at present. Making it more attractive, various government initiatives have provided a much-needed boost to the evolving sentiments and the housing sector at large.
Multitasking is in the DNA of women. They adorn several hats of relationships and responsibilities. Amidst all the chaos and hustle, a home is a place they always go back to, which assures them the much-needed solace and comfort. Hence, taking charge of making ‘dream homes’ into reality has been the go-to of present-day women. With a desire to lead an aspirational, comfortable and hassle-free lifestyle at the same time, women are today looking for integrated and well-managed developments that offer bigger configurations, top-notch amenities, world-class services, community living experiences, open green spaces, safety and security.
According to a recent survey, 62 percent of women picked real estate as the preferred investment asset class compared to the fixed deposits, the stock market, gold, and 70 percent of women respondents consider the current time a good time for buying a home. The security of physical assets influences 31 percent of women homebuyers and 28 percent are attracted by cheaper home loans.
With the ongoing scenario in the sector being favourable for women homebuyers, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on March 19th, 2023 announced a 1% stamp duty rebate for women in the Maharashtra Budget 2023. The Maharashtra Government's move, which comes just one day after International Women's Day, is expected to make homebuying more affordable for women in the state. Along with this, present-day women are determined to fulfil their financial aspirations, be a better version of themselves, build a better life for everyone around them, and take the plunge towards being proud homeowners.
