1. What are the tax benefits for women home buyers?

Aspirant Women Homebuyers can seek tax exemptions on a home purchased under their name. As per the old tax regime, women can avail numerous tax advantages as co-owners too. Joint ownership allows the couple to claim tax deductions separately, property co-owners can claim IT deductions on both, principal and interest. Owning a property means women can build equity, making themselves more creditworthy in the eyes of lenders.

2. What is the government subsidy for first-time home buyers in India for women?

The Government’s flagship scheme, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, or PMAY has many advantages for women over men as women applicants will receive a subsidy of up to 2.67 lakhs. However, the Condition: The house on which the loan is taken must be the first house in the name of the woman applicant.

3. How much do women prefer to invest in real estate?

Among the female real estate investors, a majority of Indian women prefer to invest in the affordable housing segment priced between Rs 45 lakh - Rs 90 lakh. A real estate consultant consumer sentiment survey, which involved 2,275 women, revealed that about 65% of them preferred to invest in real estate, while 20% preferred to invest in stocks. 4. What is the stamp duty charge for women in Maharashtra?

Stamp duty on property for women is 5% and for men is 6% of the property value. Between the months May - August 2022, IGR Maharashtra registered 9.70 lakh documents and total earnings of approximately Rs 1,776 crore. This initiative will encourage more women to buy houses and address the long-overdue concerns of gender disparity.

5. Is there any concession in home registration charges for women in Maharashtra?

The Maharashtra Government Budget presented on March 9, 2023 announced a concession of 1% over the prevailing stamp duty rate on property transactions, if the transfer of house property or registration of sale deed is done in the name of women.

6. Do women get benefits from home loans?

Women should have savings of up to Rs 1 lakh to 2 lakh, for a house worth Rs 1 crore. Income tax benefits can also be enjoyed by women on their home loan repayments. Rs 1.5 lakh on principal & Rs 2 lakh on interest repayment is the maximum deduction allowed.

7. Who is eligible for the PMAY subsidy?

The aim of the PMAY scheme is to make the process of property ownership seamless for women. Eligibility: According to the scheme rules, subsidies up to INR 2.67 lakh are granted. Condition: There must be at least 1 woman owner of the property in question.
