In these unexpected times where the country is facing simultaneous health and economic challenges, Lodha Group is working to ensure that our people and business emerge strong from this crisis. Here are few initiatives that we have undertaken to lessen the troubles of those whose lives have been impacted owing to the lockdown.
For our workforce
Being India’s largest real estate developer, we employ over thousands of people. We have undertaken special initiatives for our contract workers and employees to help them combat the implications of lockdown.
Contract workers and daily wage earners are the most affected during these times with no source of livelihood or access to food and basic amenities. We have ensured that sufficient food supply arrangements are in place for tens of thousands of workers who are currently staying at our sites. Simultaneously, we are also ensuring their medical welfare.
Further, we have also provided advance salaries for the month of March 2020 to all our employees from lower to mid management level, so that they can take good care of their daily needs and families in such scenario.
For our retail partners
Adhering to the closing of premises that have large public gatherings; retailers including malls (excluding essential services) are currently in distress as government announced a strict lockdown to further contain the spread of COVID-19. Given this small retailers all over the country are struggling to meet payroll and are facing tremendous pressure of rent payments.
With a view to alleviate the stress in the system and support our retail partners, we have announced full rent waiver since March 15th 2020, until the government permits reopening of retail operations. Maintenance charges will be reduced as per actual expenses during this period.
Over 200 retailers in our stores across various locations - Palava City, Thane, Pune and South Mumbai will benefit from this waiver.
For residents across our projects
Our hospitality and facilities management teams, across our projects, have been at the forefront to ensure the safety and security of the residents. Temperature check, screening of visitors, sanitisation of commonly accessed areas and premises is been carried out at regular intervals throughout the day. Apart from this, across our sites teams have made arrangements for providing essentials like groceries, milk, vegetables and fruits in the premises. While undertaking these activities our teams are adhering to sanitation, hygiene and social distancing directives as prescribed by the government. The video recognizes the efforts of these unsung heroes.
For migrant workers and daily wage laborers in the city
During these uncertain times, it’s the less privileged, the migrant workers and the homeless people who are the most affected. In a bid to help the needy to cope up with the nationwide lockdown, we have initiated free food centers for providing lunch and dinner facilities across the city of Mumbai.
The food distribution is currently being undertaken at Lodha World School, Kalyan Shil Road, Palava; Lodha World School, Majiwada, Thane; Sharda Mandir School, Gamdevi from 12 PM- 3 PM and 7PM – 9:30 PM and at Lodha Dham, Vasai on Mumbai-Ahmedabad Hwy from 11 AM – 6 PM.
Our volunteers are also reaching out to people sheltered under bridges and giving out packed food to the poor and the underprivileged.
While undertaking these activities our volunteers are adhering to sanitation, hygiene and social distancing directives as prescribed by the government.
